Built to Protect the G8X’s Oil Cooler
BMW’s G8X M2, M3 and M4 deliver serious performance straight from the factory.
However, the front-mounted oil cooler sits low beneath the car. That leaves it exposed to stones, debris and impacts.
The Mishimoto Titanium Skid Plate provides a much tougher layer of protection.
It’s manufactured from titanium, which offers 78% higher tensile strength than aluminium. This helps the plate handle impacts with less deformation.
It’s designed for everything from spirited road driving to regular track use.
Protection Without Restricting Cooling
Adding protection underneath the car shouldn’t mean restricting airflow.
Mishimoto has retained the factory air diffuser within the skid plate design. Vented crosscuts also allow airflow through the oil cooler.
This helps maintain the airflow needed for effective cooling. At the same time, the plate helps block stones and road debris.
The air diffuser is also removable.
That means it can be replaced if damaged. It can also be removed when additional ground clearance is needed on lowered cars.
A Tougher Alternative to Factory Plastic
The factory skid plate uses plastic to protect the oil cooler.
While suitable for normal use, plastic can crack and deform after repeated impacts.
The titanium construction offers much greater resistance to impacts, heat and corrosion.
Mishimoto has also recessed the mounting hardware into the plate.
This creates a smoother surface underneath the car. It also reduces the chance of bolts catching on obstacles.
Designed for the Modern G8X Platform
The new skid plate fits the 2021+ BMW G8X M2, M3 and M4.
That includes G80, G82, G83 and G87 chassis applications.
It’s also compatible with both the factory and Mishimoto oil coolers.
Installation takes less than an hour. No drilling or cutting is required for standard applications.
